North Korea has launched a nuclear submarine into the sea off the coast of Japan and launched ballistic missiles over the Pacific Ocean, North Korea’s state news agency said.
North Korea had earlier launched a ballistic missile over the sea.
North Korean state media said the missiles were launched in the Sea of Japan.
It said the North Koreans missile launch was in accordance with its sovereignty and the resolution of the issue of nuclear conflict.
The United States and South Korea said on Friday they would seek to verify whether the North Korean missile was fired from the Sea.
North and South Korean officials said that the North’s missiles were aimed at the United States.
North is the North Korea-based leader of a powerful military group known as the Workers’ Party.
A nuclear weapons programme would likely provoke retaliation from Washington, Seoul and Tokyo.
It is the first time North has tested missiles in the international waters off its coast since it conducted a successful missile test in September 2016.
