The Confederate submarine has been immortalised in a new Disney film, with the actor who played the man who was the ship’s captain having to dress up as one in a video game.
The video game adaptation of the animated film, called “The Adventures of Captain Nemo and the Cursed King,” will be released in July, Disney said on Wednesday.
In the game, Nemo is an anthropomorphic pirate and the leader of the submarine that is being hunted by Captain Nemos.
“We’ve worked closely with the talented team at Disney to bring this game to life, and it’s going to be an epic experience,” said Chris Byrd, vice president of creative content for the Disney Interactive Studios division.
In a video released last month, the director, Justin Kurth, explained how the game will take place.
He said the game features all the elements of the film, including characters, locations and even an actual submarine.
“It’s just about having fun with this submarine,” Kurth said.
The film was originally released in 2008, and has sold more than 1.3 million copies worldwide.
“The Cursed King” was directed by David Fincher and stars Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson.
“Captain Nemo” is a 1986 film that featured the same cast, but was directed and produced by Steven Spielberg.
The animated film has been praised for its portrayal of racism in America and its depiction of the role of women.
